Our mission:  To assist our furry, four-legged friends that need a special kind of love either due to physical infirmities or correctable behavioral issues, in finding their perfect furever homes.

People United 4 Pets, Inc. (4PUPs) is a 501(c)3 dedicated to helping special needs pets find loving homes.  Our mission it to help those pets that are often cast aside, overlooked, or deemed unadoptable by others.

ABOUT
Dog Groomer

Do you have a big heart? Love a challenge?  Want to open your home to a pet that needs you just as much as you need them?  Don’t mind cleaning up messes or attending training classes or out-of-the ordinary vet bills?  If you can answer “yes” to ALL of these questions then you might just be the perfect home for one of our imperfect pets.  However, if you answer “no” to any of these questions then our pets are likely not a good fit for your situation.  We understand that our adoptable pets are not for everyone.

The pets in our rescue may be blind, deaf, missing limbs, have a chronic illness, need to be an only dog in the home, need a home without children, need a home with no carpet or with carpet, need a fence or an energetic lifestyle, etc.  The bottom line is our pets are unique and each comes with its own set of challenges that will require patience and understanding on the part of our adopters.

We are seeking exceptional, extraordinary individuals with a heart for those less fortunate than others.

The larger our group of loving foster homes, the more pups we will be able to rescue. If you have a heart for pups that are perfectly imperfect, then we’d love to have you as part of our 4PUPs team.

Some of our fosters require specialized medical care, others need socialization and training. We will provide for all of your foster’s needs:  food, veterinary needs, crate; YOU provide the love and a temporary home until their forever family finds them.  To apply to become a 4PUPs approved foster home, click on the link below.

4PUPs rescue was founded by Joseph and Scarlett Cmiel, with the urging and invaluable assistance of dog trainer extraordinaire, Jessica Gosline in early 2018. 4PUPs is a dream turned reality. After more than 130 fosters and 7 years fostering for other organizations, such as the Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership (ARPO), RobDar’s HoundSong Rescue, Hope Marie’s Fund and Beagle Buddies, we decided to follow our hearts to help pups with special needs, both behavioral and physical, that need an extra boost before finding their true homes.

Scarlett gained invaluable knowledge on how to manage a rescue during her four years on the board with ARPO—two of which she spent as foster coordinator and the other two as board president. Scarlett also has both volunteered with and worked for Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, Inc. in promoting the mission of ultimately ending the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats.

Joe and Scarlett developed a passion for the “food bowl failures” early on in their rescue career, which led to the desire to help those that were deemed “unadoptable” for easily fixable issues.  They also fostered a mom and puppies in which one of the puppies, Houndini, was born with a birth defect causing his leg to be amputated at 12 weeks.  Houndini stole their hearts and created a desire to help other pups like him find their special families.

Since our hearts are bigger than our bank accounts, we can definitely use your financial assistance in helping our special needs furry friends find love and a happily ever after.  Our dogs rack up unusually large medical and training bills due to the challenges they face.  They face those challenges with sloppy kisses, tail wags and a can-do attitude that makes us want to try harder to make their lives the best that they can be.  We can’t change the past for our dogs and rewrite their futures without your generous donations.

4PUPs is  a 501(c)3 so your donations are tax-deductible. Tax receipts will be mailed in early January of each year upon request. To receive a receipt, send your request via email to info@4pups.org.
